Election: Island Co. needs a new commissioner
Now is the time to think carefully about whom you are going to vote for locally and nationally. It’s unfortunate that we lost a thoughtful, diplomatic and productive commissioner in Angie Homola.
Jill Johnson as our District 2 commissioner has been incredibly difficult to work with, making needed changes almost impossible. We have gone to many Island County commissioners meetings and watched how rude and inconsiderate she can be when the other commissioners and the public are trying to get her to see both sides.
Johnson’s inability to address community concerns rationally and intelligently on issues like Wonn Road, the fireworks and jet noise shows her lack of maturity. We need to replace her with someone who will openly and calmly look each issue. We cannot afford four more years of her shrill bullying.
I know many people on Camano Island would like to limit or ban fireworks. Please vote for a new commissioner to help protect our homes and land and listen to our needs.
Please bring good government back to Island County – vote for John Fowkes.

John Fowkes Pledge to the People of Island County:
Hello, I'm John Fowkes, candidate for Island County Commissioner District 2.
We have a strong community with many caring, dedicated people. We need to harness our ideas with leadership that responds to the community instead of dictating to it.
We've had years of poor planning and short-sighted leadership that have shut out voices instead of listening. Genuine concerns are being dismissed without a thought.
We can't afford to behave that way.
With your vote, you can make a difference for Island County.
You can elect leadership that listens.
Now - wouldn't that be a refreshing change?
